Most of my working life has been spent in libraries, but in my younger days I trained and worked as a nurse. Now I have given up paid employment to cultivate the art of not working, and save my life at the same time. Life isn't always easy, but it's what we've got. Carpe diem!

Saturday

October First, start of a new month and it's Caturday! England v Scotland match tonight, I shall be watching despite my attempts to ignore Rugby Cup fever.
My second cataract op is scheduled for early November. In the meantime, I'm a bit limited with what I can do, with one long-sighted eye and one short-sighted eye battling it out. Anything requiring close work, like reading and using the computer, is problematic. So, inspired by the Herculean efforts of The Merry, who has just come to the end of a 30-day exercise push, I am going to use this interim period between eye ops as an opportunity to move more, as my usual favourite pastimes of reading and internet noodling are too difficult. I am launching myself into an exercise challenge, namely, to exercise (one way or another!) every day. Or, to put it another way, move my body. I don't have a hope in hell of matching her goal of 3 hours of daily exercise, I am aiming for a more modest goal of at least one hour every day.  Day One started well with an early morning walk around the neighbourhood.

This has been doing the rounds on Facebook - it made me laugh.

  1. Sorry about the eye situation. Suggest you not take up archery for the immediate future. Is walking a possibility in your neck of the woods? Julie (urthalun.com) takes a walk around her neighborhood and photographs it for her blog. So far, she hasn't been reported to the police. (Being married to an officer might have something to do with that. ;)

  2. Oooh, I very much liked your name suggestions for Isobelle the goat's new sheepie companions. I have two new lambs too! 3/4 Cotswold and 1/4 Shetland. They were named Dottie and Coal, but I am not too excited about those names. We have been considering Tucker for the ram lamb, who is jet black, and the ewe is variegated grey. Maybe you will have some name suggestions!

  3. I think that's a great idea. And, walking rocks. It's something I need to get back to. Not tomorrow, though. We're supposed to get sideways rain.
