Most of my working life has been spent in libraries, but in my younger days I trained and worked as a nurse. Now I have given up paid employment to cultivate the art of not working, and save my life at the same time. Life isn't always easy, but it's what we've got. Carpe diem!

What a bore

I re-read my last few posts and honestly, I could feel my eyes rolling back in my head. What a bore I am these days. I feel I should apologise to the few readers who are still hanging in there! Sorry. Coping with daily life and all its responsibilities and everyday emergencies (like my water pump springing a leak, which is what happened this morning) is about all I can manage at the moment. Blogging just doesn't get a look in. I think the whole eye ordeal has taken more out of me than I initially thought. I have lost my joy, temporarily. (But I know it's still there somewhere, though.)

The time of the year doesn't help, and neither does the weather - the constant unrelenting wind is very wearing. And it's meant to be the first day of summer today - what the heck? It's still cold enough at night to have the fire going.

And I still have a black eye.

Bah humbug.

I'll get over it. Bear with me.

  3. The wind is here too... though not as bad as down your way I know.
Living in Palmy for 6+ years taught me that.
I am sure you will get your zip back soon... having any sort of surgery is draining.

  4. Don't worry, you are just practicing the old maxim that I use every day - I'f you haven't got anything to say, say it anyway'.

  5. Definitely NOT a bore... ever! Your updates haven't been showing up for me until today. Sorry to have missed the last two posts.

Don't worry about Cro Magnon. He can't help himself. I've read that all Cro-Magnons may actually have slept sitting up.

  6. Don't worry about it. Worrying about it is like having a job only you don't get paid.

  8. How did you fix the water pump, Judith? I'm mighty impressed about that.
Frankly I think most of us struggle to find the Christmas spirit until the Day. It's easily my most annoying month!

  9. Thanks all - feeling better today, at least the bloody awful wind has dropped to a dull roar.

    Prue, I didn't fix it - it's still leaking!
