Rain at last
Yesterday it rained all day, after weeks of hot sunny days. Thank goodness. Everyone is grateful, especially my farmer neighbours. My water tank was almost empty and I was on the point of ordering a tanker load - at around $200 a pop. Now I don't need to, the weather gods obliged and after a few hours of steady rain my tank is full again and the garden is refreshed. I could almost see the courgettes and tomatoes gratefully absorbing all that lovely water and swelling up before my very eyes. My runner beans have gone mad, and I can't give them away because everyone else's have gone mad too!

As I write, it is pouring and very windy.I have to walk the dogs in about an hour, so my fingers are crossed that it will stop.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hear more details about your water supply, tank, pumping system, etc.
I'll do a post about it soon then Cro, if you're really interested. I'll have to find out a bit more about how it works, though, I'm a bit clueless.
DeleteRain, such a welcome sound on the roof, and yes, the grass, veges, and plants seem to unravel the wilted leaves as you watch. Tank water, I grew up with that, and one summer, I remember, about 1950 or so, going to the cowshed for a bath, Dad had a bore for the farm and milking shed, all the house tanks were very low. Farmers will be so relieved, crops will now grow, and grass recover after hay and silage cutting.Greetings, Jean
ReplyDeleteLOVE that pic - it is perfect!
ReplyDeleteI'll take some beans... But, only if you take some zucchini :-)
ReplyDeleteHaha! I have zucchini as well popping out like mad! But only one plant so it's manageable.
DeleteBeautiful photo. There's nothing like a good rain.. when you need and want it!
ReplyDeleteMitch and Anne, I have to come clean and admit I didn't take the photo, it's a stock photo from the internet. I didn't think to take any pics until it was too late.
